THE BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN SOCIAL WORK (BSW)
Admission Requirements
- Admission of candidates to the first year of the course leading to the Bachelor of Social Work is considered on the basis of;
a.) the minimum requirements for University admission prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC)
and
b.) a good working knowledge of English *
- Candidates who have completed the Diploma in Social Work are considered for admission to the second year of the course leading to the Bachelor of Social Work on the basis of
a.) a merit pass at the Diploma in Social Work examinations
and
b.) a good working knowledge of English *
Eligible candidates at both levels of intake may be required by the Admissions Committee to sit for an Entrance Test. Those who qualify at this Entrance Test will be called for an interview. The final selection of candidates will be made on the basis of merit.
* Note: A minimum of a credit pass in the English Language at the G.C.E (O/L) examinations is compulsory.
How to apply
The advertisements on calling for applications are published in the news papers in the Government Gazette and in this website. The eligible applicants have to prepare an application on the prescribed form and submit it to the NISD. Usually the applications are called in the month of March each year.
